Famous 4th set tie breaker in 1980, the first of two consecutive Wimbledon finals between Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe. It’s the NBC coverage with Bud Collins and Donald Dell. This is a patching of the live coverage and the replay, which NBC showed after the end of the match. I stopped the tape a few times during the live coverage, notably after the first point. I pasted part of the taped version later because the quality is slightly better and there were no stoppages to the tape. Again, when I taped this in 1980 I had no idea I’d be uploading it to a public channel on something called the internet 30 years later. The picture quality is not ideal to watch a white tennis ball. Best I can do. I didn’t see the NBC version elsewhere on YouTube.

Highlights made by me. Both players at their best. In my opinion it was one of the best 5-set thriller at Wimbledon in new era, only Federer-Nadal final in 2008 was greater. Don’t ask me about the quality, because quality of source was bad. Besides highlights are long, but look on quantity of played games and not typical for grass long rallies.

Top 10 Wimbledon Open era Men’s Singles upsets in HD. The player who lost must have been a top four seed and the player who won must have been seeded outside the top 16 to qualify for this list. The top match in this list occured at Wimbledon 1973, which was the boycott year. Ilie Nastase was the overwhelming favourite for the men’s singles title that year. It transpired that he never won it.
